About Dr. Vana Prewitt

Dr. Prewitt lives in New Bern, North Carolina where she teaches college. She is an Assistant Professor of Business at Mount Olive College with campuses in Mount Olive, Wilmington, New Bern, Washington, Research Triangle Park, and Seymour Johnson Air Force Base in Goldsboro, NC. Her area of expertise is in Organization Development; she teaches classes in

Her research interest is in nonformal adult learning methods as they impact business performance. She is currently conducting research in three areas:

  • How adults learn at professional conferences
  • What learning occurs when visiting an aquarium
  • Nonformal learning networks in the emergent entrepreneurial environment of Cuba

Originally from Los Angeles, Dr. Prewitt has lived in Kansas, Colorado, Ohio, Liberia, Korea, Virginia, New Orleans (it is a different country!), and North Carolina. She spent 25 years working for profit and nonprofit organizations in the United States and abroad, primarily in the areas of healthcare education and information technology change management.

She lives in the Historic District of New Bern in a century-old house that leaks like a sieve with her two very spoiled Maine Coon cats. She loves going to the beach, walking along the Neuse and Trent Rivers, riding her motorcycle, and participating in community events.
